This is a finely crafted Buddha statue from the 8th century Srivijaya period. The Buddha is gilded all over, standing upright and erect, with long nails under his feet for fixation. It is estimated that he originally had a lotus pedestal but unfortunately it was lost. He wears a tight-fitting kasaya, draped over his left shoulder, with a knot on his left shoulder that hangs down in front. His right shoulder is bare. His right hand makes a gesture of fearlessness, and his left hand elegantly holds the corner of his robe. The Buddha’s ears are long and drooping, his oval face is very full, with large eyes and sharp lips. His eyes slightly look down ahead, with a serene and compassionate expression. His hair is clearly curled and orderly on the top of his head, ending in a round ushnisha shape. His clothing is clearly influenced by the Gupta style, the cloth is very thin and almost transparent, revealing his body contour. The Buddha’s gilded body has heavy traces of green embroidery. The oval-shaped halo behind the head of the Buddha statue has broken off, leaving only a part.
